FOURTH ANNUAL OFFICETEAM ADMINISTRATIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD RECIPIENT NAMED: Amy
Gurren of Dorfman-Robbie, CPAs, P.C. to Be Honored During Administrative
Professionals Week
MENLO PARK, CA -- Amy Gurren, administrative manager at Dorfman-Robbie, CPAs in
Albany, N.Y., has been selected as the winner of the 2008 OfficeTeam
Administrative Excellence Award. The award is presented annually to an
administrative professional who demonstrates a commitment to leadership,
education and
operational efficiency. Co-sponsors of the award include the
International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) and SkillSoft
PLC (Nasdaq: SKIL). Other supporters include CareerBuilder.com, Dress for
Success, MeasureUp, the Microsoft Business Certification Program,
RetirementJobs.com and Working Mother magazine.
“The OfficeTeam Administrative Excellence Award acknowledges the invaluable
contributions administrative professionals bring to their companies every day,”
said Dave Willmer, executive director of OfficeTeam, a leading staffing service
specializing in the placement of highly skilled administrative professionals.
“OfficeTeam honors Amy Gurren for her outstanding accomplishments, commitment to
the profession and ability to serve as a mentor to her peers.”
Gurren will be honored April 22 during the live broadcast of the SkillSoft
Annual Briefing for Administrative Professionals, an interactive training event
for administrative staff. Gurren’s career coach, Mazie McMahon, marketing
director at Dorfman-Robbie, CPAs, nominated her for the award. More information
about the nomination process, judging criteria and prize package can be found at
www.officeteamaward.com.
In addition to appearing on the live broadcast of the Annual Briefing in
Oakland, Calif., Gurren will attend the IAAP International Convention and
Education Forum in New Orleans, July 27-30.
Widely regarded as a role model within her organization, Gurren supervises
several administrative assistants and supports the managing director of the
firm. She holds a leadership position as part of the company’s coaching staff,
and establishes and fosters rapport between work groups.
Gurren proactively identified ways to improve business processes at her company, and her ideas saved her employer time and money. She developed more concise tax documentation forms for clients of the
accounting firm, which helped to reduce
redundancy and errors, and greatly increased productivity. Gurren also enhanced
her company’s business relationships by creating and attaching a reference sheet
with staff members’ photos and biographies, to each client’s tax return. This
made it easier for clients to contact the right person with questions.
In addition to the contributions she makes on the job, Gurren serves as vice
president of the Capital District Chapter of IAAP and has been a member of its
board since 2006. Gurren holds the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and
Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designations.
“The International Association of Administrative Professionals is proud to
celebrate the achievements of administrative professionals throughout the
world,” said Judy McCoy CPS/CAP, IAAP’s 2007-08 international president.
“Amy Gurren’s commitment to professional growth and education is an example for
other administrative professionals to follow,” said Taavo Godtfredsen, executive
producer of SkillSoft.
